It's Wednesday and I'm taking a slight detour from our week of Spanish Tapas. I noticed on my calendar that this weekend the local strawberry fields by my house will be opening for the season! With strawberries on the brain, I started filtering through my never ending list of strawberry recipes I've been wanting to make. One of those recipes was for a Strawberry Float. But in keeping with the Spanish theme, I came across another recipe and made this Strawberry Sangria Float. A blend of red wine, fresh strawberry puree and strawberry sorbet makes this a fun and flirty drink guaranteed to refresh you on those sultry summer nights...
For our cooking party over the weekend, we made some traditional sangrias with chopped fresh fruit, a splash of brandy and various fruit juices and nectars. However, I think I would have served these sangria floats up instead. What's great is that this is probably easier to make than traditional sangria because there's no need to cut up a lot of fruit or even a waiting period for the fruit to soak in any alcohol. In fact, I might even prefer this than the traditional version especially on those hot summer days!
Now if you have strawberries on the brain or you want to take advantage of the sales on strawberries at grocery stores this time of year, this is a recipe round up that you can certainly appreciate. I reached out to some fellow food blogger friends who I look up to and admire for ideas on how they use strawberries in their kitchens. I was overwhelmed with the amazing responses I received because everything they suggested and shared looks so ridiculously good! Here's the delicious round up of 60+ berry delicious recipes I can't wait to make myself. Yes, you read correctly - 60+ recipes! PS: Here's a great post on how to freeze those berries too, thanks to Liz of The Lemon Bowl!
