A Perfect Conor Summer Morning

No autism commentary this morning. Great weather and we headed out for a walk on the trail to the Superstore to pick up a few groceries. More than the weather though Conor was in a great mood and wanted to get out doors and stretch his legs in the fresh air. Now 15 and 6 feet tall Conor is still our Run, Jump, Fly boy, on the trail, at the wetland observation deck and at the outdoor Lawrence Amphitheatre, called the Circle Place in our house. It has been a perfect Conor Summer Morning.

Killarney Lake Autism Therapy? No, Just Fun for Conor and Dad

I am sure that riding horses in Mongolia would be fun, and would probably help sell some books and other nifty promotions, but I don' think such an adventure would qualify as an autism therapy.  Yesterday, here in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the weather was warm if slightly overcast.  The trails were in great shape at Killarney Lake and I headed over with Conor for our first Killarney Lake outing of 2011.  Therapy? No. Therapeutic? Maybe, more so for Dad than Conor. We both definitely enjoyed the adventure.

We had fun, pure and simple.  When Conor decides to set the pace Dad can only scramble to keep up. Sometimes though my Buddy turns and waits for his slower stepping Dad to catch up. We are looking forward to many return visits to Killarney Lake this year.

Conor Is 15 Today!!

Conor is 15 today and it is all about Conor -  unlike any other day of the year ;-)  Our buddy has some fun on his Southpaw Enterprises therapy ball and, of yeah,   has a bit of cake.  The Little Einsteins are a favorite of Conor's and made it to the birthday cake.

Saturday Morning Conor Fun

On Saturday mornings we usually walk to the SuperStore with Conor to pick up a few groceries. We get some exercise that way and we reduce our carbon footprint by leaving the car in the driveway. The best part though is having fun with Conor. Yesterday Conor did some running on the way to the store, first running away from Heather and then back towards her while she was taking some pictures. (My pontoon sneakers can be seen in the background in one pic).

At the Superstore Conor posed patiently with his new Toy Story 3 poster while Dad took a couple of pics. We drop by the Superstore bakery often. Conor likes the various movie decorations on the cakes. It really felt good when staff brought out a Toy Story 3 poster and gave it to Conor.

Conor's Toy Story 3 Movie Place Adventure

Almost a month ago we took Conor to see SHReK in the local Empire theater. It was Conor's first visit to a theater in a few years and it went very well.  We weren't sure  though if it was a fluke or not so today we went again; this time to see Toy Story 3. Woody and Buzz  are a couple of Conor's old favorites. It went very, very well. Conor was not in the least bit agitated.  He laughed out loud during the movie and had lots of fun. In the combined picture above Conor smiles and points out some familiar faces Woody and Mr. Potato Head.

Conor was happy, very happy,  and Mom and Dad loved every minute of Conor's Toy Story 3 movie place adventure.

Conor Has Company on the Trail

Last week we were visiting my family in the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia with a side trip to Black Rock for some beautiful scenery and some pictures. The trip went very well and Conor enjoyed himself.  He did miss his usual routines though including his Saturday morning trail walk with Mom and Dad. He was happy to get back on the trail this morning and we capped it off with a trip to McDonald's.  We also had some company along the way.

Conor's New Housecoat

Yesterday when I picked Conor up at  school Brad,  a Teacher Assistant , had a gift for him.  Some of the people who work with Conor know he likes the Cat in the Hat and when they saw this  housecoat they  had to get it for him. Conor is happy with his new housecoat.  He has been very fortunate to have some kind, caring people working with  him at school.

Conor and Feathered Friends on a Special Treat Walk Adventure

Mom, Dad and Conor headed out for our Saturday morning grocery and treat walk adventure.  Today was a special one. Conor, on his initiative,  stopped at the vegetable section to pick out some peppers  - one orange, yellow, green and red.  He also spotted a basketball and Mom and Dad just coudln't say no.

Along the way we had the company of some fine feathered friends.  I wish I could have produced an audio of the different bird noises we heard chattering back and forth as we moved along the trail.

Cold Snap Doesn't Stop Conor's Saturday Morning Superstore Adventure

Conor, Mom and Dad often head out for a walk along the trail to the Superstore early Saturday morning just to stretch the legs, get some fresh air and pick up some essentials. This morning was one of our colder mornings in a while with the official temperature at -13 Celsius and -21 with a wind chill. We were walking into the wind along the river trail heading to the Superstore but we were dressed for it. Conor didn't mind the cold too much as long as he didn't have to wait too often for old Dad to catch up.
