Is Walking Autism Therapy? No, Just Fun for Conor and Dad

In the space of two days Conor and I went on several walks together.  Nothing makes me feel better than going for a good walk, preferably along a trail or hiking in the woods.  I love being outdoors in nature and I always have. As an added bonus I like walking even more when I am walking with Conor.  

We took advantage of the long weekend to get lots of walking in.  It may not be as scientifically based as swimming with dolphins or riding horses in Mongolia but it makes me and Conor feel better. We both enjoy walking together. So far this long weekend here in New Brunswick we have gotten out for several trail walks and a bridge walk across the St. John River to downtown and back.  Autism therapy? Well  ....  at least as much as most unproven therapies that stretch therapeutic value into therapy but no, it is just healthy fun with my buddy Conor.

Fall is Fair in Fredericton for Conor and Dad

We didn't have the best of summers this year but fall, my favorite season anyway, was fair this year with lots of chances to get out and walk the excellent trails in Fredericton. I love getting outdoors on the trails; especially when my buddy Conor walks with me.

Autism Negotiations: Conor Holds Out For Treats

Conor wasn't as keen as Dad to get out for a trail walk on this beautiful afternoon so I used all my parenting skills to get Conor out for a walk with me. ... I negotiated ... actually I bribed him with the promise that our walk would include a sidewalk for treats at the Superstore. Conor meant business too picking out "lunchable" treats for his school lunch, chips and a Coffee Crisp. Yes I know I am a bad, bad parent. Actually Conor has no dietary issues and eats good vegetables, fruits and meats and drinks lots of juice and milk on his own initiative. And I just like spoiling him some times. So sue me.

The Grey Summer Gives Conor A Break

It has been a grey summer with unrelenting cloud and rain.

Today started with more of the same and Conor relaxed with Dad's laptop and headphones. But the clouds let up a bit with the sun and blue sky breaking through at times. Conor was a bit reluctant to head out for a trail walk being out of the routine. With the steady bad weather there have been few good opportunities for outings. I was able to coax Conor back out on the trail though and he enjoyed the walk.

More Conor Trail Fun

One of my favorite activities is trail walking with Conor. It is a beautiful, fresh, safe and stress free time. The exercise benefits aren't really a major consideration. The chance to enjoy the fresh air and the beauty of nature without traffic or the stress, for Conor, of too much noise add up to a lot of fun - together with my buddy.
