Conor Takes Dad For A Walk ... Sort Of

Beautiful, fresh, early fall day today. Conor and I both felt like getting out for a walk and enjoying the fresh air and early fall colors.  Conor, as usual, set the pace and Dad lagged behind doing the best I could.  Conor walked briskly, ran occasionally and, when he really got going, did his run, jump, fly maneuvers.   Dad ... uh walked briskly ... on occasion.

Conor Enjoys Wearing His Hoodie On A Chilly Morning Walk with Mom and Dad

It was a cool brisk morning when Conor headed out for a walk with Mom and Dad today.  Conor was quite happy to wear his hoodie under his jacket ... with the hood up most of the time.

Autism and High School: Conor's Final Preparation

Conor has been anxious to return to school; literally counting down each day and telling Mom and Dad how many days left until school. Today was ONE DAY left!.  Last year we did some transition planning for Conor's move from Middle School to High School.  Together with Middle School, High School and District 18 representatives we prepared Conor, as best we could, for the transition to High School.  The planning included actual visits to Leo Hayes High School and work with the UNB-CEL Autism Intervention trained  Teacher Assistants who will be working with Conor this year. They also visited Conor at Middle School and spent some time working with him there before the end of the year.  Hopefully that familiarity with the place, and with some key people, will help ensure a smooth transition. Today, with more fine weather, I took Conor for a visit to Leo Hayes High School just to see the building, one more time,  where he will be attending school tomorrow.

Conor and Feathered Friends on a Special Treat Walk Adventure

Mom, Dad and Conor headed out for our Saturday morning grocery and treat walk adventure.  Today was a special one. Conor, on his initiative,  stopped at the vegetable section to pick out some peppers  - one orange, yellow, green and red.  He also spotted a basketball and Mom and Dad just coudln't say no.

Along the way we had the company of some fine feathered friends.  I wish I could have produced an audio of the different bird noises we heard chattering back and forth as we moved along the trail.

For Conor There Is Fun And Then There Is Circle Place Fun

Conor had a great day trail walking with Dad this morning but his favorite part or our hike came when we visited the Circle Place; the Lawrence Amphitheatre.  Conor loves to play  balancing games on the curved cement seating rings of the amphitheatre.  We have an early spring.  Whether it is a false spring or not remains to be be seen, but Conor took advantage of the great weather to have fun at one of his favorite places - the Circle Place.

Trails Start to Open in Fredericton on a Beautiful, Almost Spring, Day

It was a beautiful blue sky, "almost spring", day in Fredericton today. The trails are starting to open up for walking and I had to take the afternoon off and enjoy the outdoors. Conor wasn't keen to do any trail walking today but I am going to push him a bit harder to get out with Dad tomorrow if the weather is any where near as nice as it was today.
