World Peace Cookies

This week's Tuesdays with Dorie baking challenge was the World Peace Cookies. I was really excited about making these. I mean, who wouldn't? The cookies have a nice chocolate dough with bittersweet or semi chocolate chips mixed in. In terms of how the cookie was put together, it involved forming the crumbly dough into a log wrapped in parchment or plastic wrap, chilled for at least 3 hours, sliced and baked.

The end result didn't wow me. I think what turned me off on this recipe was the labor involved in wrapping and chilling for a lengthy amount of time, only to end up working with crumbly dough that needed to be hand formed into a ball before baking. I could have eliminated the wrapping and chilling process all together since the dough just didn't work for me.

The flavor itself was much too chocolatey for me and the fair amount of salt called for in the recipe didn't shine as well as I hoped. Perhaps I'll give these a try again in the future, but it was fun baking them in the process!

Be sure to check out fellow TWD bloggers for their thoughts and renditions of the recipe. If you'd like to try your hand on the recipe, Jessica of Cookbook Habit has the recipe posted on her blog!
