I recently posted a recipe for Pesto Palmiers and mentioned how I usually have a package of Pepperidge Farm puff pastry in my freezer. As coincidence would have it, Pepperidge Farm contacted me and asked if I could create a sophisticated and simple original recipe using Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry with an ingredient or in a dish that's indigenous to Chicago. I happily accepted this Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry recipe challenge and I'm open to suggestions!...
Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry has long been a staple in helping home cooks and hostesses create savory appetizers, stylish entrees and sweet flaky desserts. Celebrated culinary expert Gail Simmons (from the Top Chef reality show) recently created six original Puff Pastry recipes, including Smoked Salmon Blini Puffs and PB&J Doughnuts.Gail's exclusive Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry recipe collection will soon be available on www.PuffPastry.com, which is where Pepperidge Farm would like to feature my original recipe! Check out the website to see some really great puff pastry recipes... which will definitely come in handy in the next couple of months for holiday entertaining.
As for the Puff Pastry recipe challenge, I'm currently taking suggestions on how to incorporate Chicago ingredients and Chicago inspired dishes to create a recipe using Puff Pastry. Any ideas? I have a handful I'm playing around with but I'm open to other creative ideas. Some ideas I've already received included a new take on a Chicago deep dish pizza, hot dog and Italian beef sandwich. The recipe can be for any course: appetizer, main entree or dessert. I have until Monday, September 20, 2010 to submit a recipe so feel free to comment on what ideas you have. Pepperidge Farm will be generously providing me a stipend for my time and materials invested in the Puff Pastry recipe challenge. Stay tuned... deliciousness is forthcoming!
